The best solution for broken or chipped
tiles is tile replacement. During tile replacement old damaged tiles
are removed and new tiles are set and grouted.
Before tile replacement can begin it must be determined why the old tile was damaged. If there is a problem with the underlayment or the structure beneath the tile, it can be a waste of money to do the tile replacement since these underlying issues would likely result in the newly installed tiles also being damaged.
The old tiles are chiseled out and this can result in other tiles being damaged by the vibrations this is especially true if underlying problems exist. When only one replacement tile is available, it is rarely advisable to risk possibly damaging other tiles to replace the single tile.
